The Federation was founded by a number
of industrial leaders from Asian
countries in 1987. The first organising
committee meeting was held in Japan with
enthusiastic representatives from Japan,
Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India,
Thailand and Australia.

1st General Meeting
(1988)
The hard works of the ad-hoc committee
was finally concluded at the first
general meeting and inauguration
ceremony of the federation (formerly
known as FAOPCA) held on November 7,
1988 at Grand Hill Ichigaya, Tokyo,
Japan with 47 participants from eight
countries.

7th General Meeting
and 6th Convention (1994)
The seventh general meeting and the sixth
FAOPMA convention was held on September
26, 1994 at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Bombay,
India. It was motioned and seconded in the
meeting that the georgraphic coverage of
the federation be enlarged to cover the
nations that particpate in the Asian Games
as well as the nations in the Oceania
Region. Israel Pest Control Services
Association was admitted as country member
of the federation.
The eighth general meeting and the
seventh FAOPMA convention was held on
October 24, 1995 at the Lotte World
Hotel, Seoul, Korea. The following

The eighth FAOPMA convention was held
on May 8-12, 1996 jointly with CEPA at
Tel Aviv, Israel.
9th General Meeting
and 8th Convention (1996)
The nineth general meeting was held at
Singapore on November 30, 1996. Both
Pest Control Association of New Zealand
and Singapore were invited to join
FAOPMA as country members.
10th General Meeting
and 9th Convention (1997)
The tenth general meeting and the
nineth FAOPMA convention was held on
April 7-9, 1997 in Hong Kong Convention
and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong. The

The Executive Director post was created
during the general meeting and Mr.
Jackson Chan (Hong Kong) was elected to
hold the post on permanent basis in
order to maintain continuity of
administrative matters of the
federation. He or his designated
representative shall be an ex-officio of
all meetings of the federation.
P.R. China joined as country member
and Israel Pest Control Services
Association relinguished its membership
in 1997.
11th General Meeting
and 10th Convention (1998)
The eleventh general meeting and the
tenth FAOPMA convention was held on June
3-5, 1998 jointly with AEPMA at
Melbourne/Tasmania. Pest Exterminators
Association of The Philippines was
invited to join as country member.
12th General Meeting
and 11th Convention (1999)
The twelveth general meeting and the
eleventh FAOPMA convention was held on
Sept. 8-10, 1999 at Kun Lun Hotel,
Beijing, PR China. The following

The sixteenth general meeting and the
fifteenth Convention/Exhibition was held
at Shangri-la Hotel, Makati, The
Philippines - November 18-20, 2003. Mrs.
Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo, President of
the Philippines officiated the opening

17th General Meeting
and 16th Convention (2004)
The seventeen general meeting and the
sixteenth convention/exhibition was held
in J.W. Marriot Hotel, Mumbai, India
from Nov. 24-25, 2004 with over 450
delegates, both local and international.
Dr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Honourable
Minister of State for Agriculture &
Consusmer Affairs, Food & Public
Distribution, Govt. of India officiated
the opening ceremony.
18th General Meeting
and 17th Convention (2005)
The eighteenth general meeting and
seventeenth convention/exhibition was
held at Korean International Exhibition
Centre, Seoul, Korea Nov. 22 -24, 2005.

and Welfare; Dae-Kyu, Oh, Director of
Korea Center for Disease Control and
Prevention and Hak-Kyu, Sohn, The

19th General Meeting
and 18th Convention (2006)
The nineteenth general meeting and
eighteenth convention/exhibition was
held at Brisbane Convention and
Exhibition Centre, Brisbane Australia
July 26-29, 2006. The event was attended
by over 800 delegates from local and
overseas. President (2006-2007) Mr. Choi
Heung-sik reported in the meeting that a
team of eight delegates from five Korean
pest control companies assisted in the
Tsunami disaster relief activities from
Jan. 5 to Feb. 3, 2005 at Banda Ache,
Indonesia. The team provided pest
control treatments and related
technology transfer to the Indonesian
Authorities as part of the relief
activities. A total of 10,858 litres
germicide/pesticides (value approx.
US$76,000) were also contributed in the
operation. Mr. Doug Howick, retired
National Executive Director of AEPMA,
Australia, was honored the title of
Honorary Advisor for FAOPMA by the AGM.
Mr. Jackson Chan, Executive Director and
Past President was enrolled in the
Honorary President list effective July
29, 2006.
20th General Meeting
and 19th Convention (2007)
The twentieth general meeting and the
nineteenth convention/exhibition was
held at Howard International House,
Taipei, Taiwan November 14-16, 2007. The
event was attended by over 600 delegates
from local and overseas. The event was
fully supported by National Taiwan
University and Environmental Protection
Administration Executive Yuan, Taiwan.
The FAOPMA President Mr. Heung – Sik
CHOI announced that he has successfully
linked up with members of FAOPMA under
an international agreement which all of
them committed to provide all kinds of
necessary assistance to minimize harmful
effects of natural disasters happening
within the Asian and Oceania regions. He
is certain that all members will
continue this spirit at all times.

21st General Meeting
and 20th Convention (2008)
The twenty first general meeting and
the twentieth convention/exhibition was
held at Tokyo International Forum, Tokyo
November 4-6, 2008. Approx. 500
delegates from local/international
attended. The occasion also cerebrates
the 40th Anniversary of the Japan Pest
Control Association. On the first day of
the convention, a special session titled
“Asian & Oceania Pest Management
Summit” was held with presentations by
heads of various pest management
associations from the region. The Chief
Executive Officer of NPMA (USA) Mr. Rob
Lederer; Director General of CEPA
(Europe) Mr. Rob Fryatt and Ing Benjamin
Gomez Guerrero of Univar Mexico also
shared their experience with attendees
in the session.
22nd General Meeting
and 21st Convention (2009)
The FAOPMA Convention held in Beijing,
China (Nov. 25-27, 2009) was attended by
over 750 delegates from both local and
international PMPs. 67 exhibitors of
Chinese manufacturers and international
pest management product suppliers
displayed their products in the
exhibition with fruitful results. The
convention was finally highlighted by
the Gala Dinner well organized by the
hosting party, Chinese Pest Control
Association. Thanks to CPCA for the
marvelous entertainments during the
dinner and all were fully enjoyed. “It
is the most exciting gathering of
similar nature I have ever attended”
said one of the European delegates. “I’m
so impressed of the “Changing Faces”
show and I wonder how he did it” a
remark made by an American exhibitor. To
sum up, this convention/exhibition is
one of the most successful events
organized by FAOPMA in recent years.

23rd General Meeting
and 22nd Convention (2010)
The 23rd General Meeting and 22nd
FAOPMA Convention was held on November
17-19, 2010 in Manila. 300 local
and international delegates attended to
the event. Director Nazarita T.
Tacandong of Food and Drug
Administration, The Philippines, was the
keynote speaker in the opening
ceremony. The first FAOPMA
Newsletter was distributed to members
and other interested parties during the
convention.
24th General Meeting
and 23rd Convention (2011)
The 24th General Meeting and 23rd
Convention was held on September 22-24,
2011 in Goa. The Convention was
attended by close to 500 delegates from
India as well as foreign participants
from China, South Korea, Hong Kong,
Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand,
Taiwan, The Philippines, Portugal,
Poland, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands,
Sweden, Israel, UK, USA, Australia, UAE,
Oman, Qatar and Sir Lanka. The
profile of participants included the top
Indian and international pest management
service and product supply companies,
industry experts, professionals,
academicians and Government dignitaries.
The event was a great success with
a series of comprehensive business
sessions and many interesting
entertainment programmes for all
