The Federation was founded by a number of industrial leaders from Asian countries in 1987. The first organising committee meeting was held in Japan with enthusiastic representatives from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Thailand and Australia.
The hard works of the ad-hoc committee was finally concluded at the first general meeting and inauguration ceremony of the federation (formerly known as FAOPCA) held on November 7, 1988 at Grand Hill Ichigaya, Tokyo, Japan with 47 participants from eight countries.

The seventh general meeting and the sixth FAOPMA convention was held on September 26, 1994 at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Bombay, India. It was motioned and seconded in the meeting that the georgraphic coverage of the federation be enlarged to cover the nations that particpate in the Asian Games as well as the nations in the Oceania Region. Israel Pest Control Services Association was admitted as country member of the federation.

The eighth FAOPMA convention was held on May 8-12, 1996 jointly with CEPA at Tel Aviv, Israel.
The nineth general meeting was held at Singapore on November 30, 1996. Both Pest Control Association of New Zealand and Singapore were invited to join FAOPMA as country members.

The Executive Director post was created during the general meeting and Mr. Jackson Chan (Hong Kong) was elected to hold the post on permanent basis in order to maintain continuity of administrative matters of the federation. He or his designated representative shall be an ex-officio of all meetings of the federation.
P.R. China joined as country member and Israel Pest Control Services Association relinguished its membership in 1997.
The eleventh general meeting and the tenth FAOPMA convention was held on June 3-5, 1998 jointly with AEPMA at Melbourne/Tasmania. Pest Exterminators Association of The Philippines was invited to join as country member.

The seventeen general meeting and the sixteenth convention/exhibition was held in J.W. Marriot Hotel, Mumbai, India from Nov. 24-25, 2004 with over 450 delegates, both local and international. Dr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Honourable Minister of State for Agriculture & Consusmer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Govt. of India officiated the opening ceremony.
The eighteenth general meeting and seventeenth convention/exhibition was held at Korean International Exhibition Centre, Seoul, Korea Nov. 22 -24, 2005. Messrs Geun-Tae, Kim, Minister of Health and Welfare; Dae-Kyu, Oh, Director of Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Hak-Kyu, Sohn, The Provincial Governor, Gyeonggi Province, Korea are guests of honor of the event. The nineteenth general meeting and eighteenth convention/exhibition was held at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Brisbane Australia July 26-29, 2006. The event was attended by over 800 delegates from local and overseas. President (2006-2007) Mr. Choi Heung-sik reported in the meeting that a team of eight delegates from five Korean pest control companies assisted in the Tsunami disaster relief activities from Jan. 5 to Feb. 3, 2005 at Banda Ache, Indonesia. The team provided pest control treatments and related technology transfer to the Indonesian Authorities as part of the relief activities. A total of 10,858 litres germicide/pesticides (value approx. US$76,000) were also contributed in the operation. Mr. Doug Howick, retired National Executive Director of AEPMA, Australia, was honored the title of Honorary Advisor for FAOPMA by the AGM. Mr. Jackson Chan, Executive Director and Past President was enrolled in the Honorary President list effective July 29, 2006.
The twentieth general meeting and the nineteenth convention/exhibition was held at Howard International House, Taipei, Taiwan November 14-16, 2007. The event was attended by over 600 delegates from local and overseas. The event was fully supported by National Taiwan University and Environmental Protection Administration Executive Yuan, Taiwan. The FAOPMA President Mr. Heung ¡V Sik CHOI announced that he has successfully linked up with members of FAOPMA under an international agreement which all of them committed to provide all kinds of necessary assistance to minimize harmful effects of natural disasters happening within the Asian and Oceania regions.
